Why the laboratory matters
Microsurgical technique is learned on the bench before it is used on a patient. The skills that decide a flap — needle handling, vessel preparation, the discipline of working at magnification without overcorrecting — are built through repetition under a microscope on tissue that does not matter, so that they are available when it does.
